PoZazz Productions is an amazing aggregate of young African-Americans, dedicated to promoting the art of spoken word in New Orleans and the nation. The members of PoZazz are bright and gifted individuals, whose many talents include poetry, music, dance, and visual arts. More importantly, the members of PoZazz are energetic and hardworking and guided by vision, passion, purpose and principle.
PoZazz Productions has become the premier provider of spoken word entertainment in the city of New Orleans. On a monthly basis, PoZazz attracts over 500 people to its weekly open-mic production at True Brew Café.PoZazz has also hosted the Southern Fried Poetry Slam Regionals, sponsored the New Orleans Slam Team, produced a Harlem Renaissance Extravaganza, as well as provided writing workshops, art exhibits, and special poetry productions.
PoZazz Productions can best be described as a movement—in tune and in time with cadences to which the modern spoken word community resonates. As PoZazz nears its seventh year of setting the stage for spoken word productions in New Orleans, the movement is set to take new turns and reach new heights.
PoZazz is set to ride the crest of its wave by elevating the energy and inspirations which led to its founding and by carrying forth its Elders’ and ancestors’ traditions of innovation and excellence. PoZazz Productions continues to strive to make New Orleans the “spoken word Mecca of the Universe.” |
